Each year, we host a charity golf day, inviting colleagues, suppliers, industry peers, friends and family to come together for a day of fun and relaxation and help raise funds for charity.

For the past few years, we have chosen Shooting Star Children’s Hospices as our charity to support. Shooting Star Children’s Hospices’ aim is to provide support to every family that needs it, from in-hospice respite to bereavement support, symptom management and even fun days out for siblings. It really is a fantastic charity and we are so proud to be able to support it.

With  18 teams in attendance, we started our annual charity golf day at North Foreland Golf Club in Broadstairs, Kent, where we took on the main course in fine weather for this time of year. The course was in fantastic condition, as always.

There were prizes for the longest drives, straightest drives, closest to the pins, best team, best individual, and the runners-up… and a set of wooden spoons was given for the lowest points tally, so there was a lot at stake!

We got the day underway with a shotgun start, so cries of elation and despair could be heard across the course from the get-go and that set the precedent for the amazing day ahead.

The weather took a little turn in the afternoon and the wind picked up from the North Sea, making the challenge of the game that little bit harder but we powered through and we were so impressed seeing the markers for ‘Longest Drive’s and ‘Closest to Pins’ on the field. We knew there were some sharp shooters amongst us on the day.

A shout-out must go to the pro, who in a game called ‘Beat the Pro’, did not let that happen, and he maintained his proud spot as a pro.

We thoroughly enjoyed the day on the course and later headed inside for an evening of food, drinks, prizes and a charity auction to raise funds for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

We auctioned some fantastic items, including a signed photo of Ian Botham, tickets to see Cliff Richard, Dame Joan Collins sunglasses and various golfing four balls around the county, and we were completely blown away by the response. By the end of the evening, we had raised over £18,500, which is absolutely incredible, for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

We cannot thank everyone enough for their contributions and support that made the day an absolute success, and all for a wonderful cause.

At OFP, it is really important to us that we support the local community around us. Big thank you to our local golf club, North Foreland Golf Club, for hosting us and taking such good care of us all day. Another big thank you to all those who donated prizes for the charity auction.

Finally, a special mention to Shooting Star Children’s Hospices for all the incredible work you do to support families and help make every moment count. Check out their wonderful work. Visit: https://www.shootingstar.org.uk/
